We encourage the participation of all parents in the life of the school and the education of their children. Great schools have strong connections with their communities and RHS Family helps us make this happen. We want the school to be strongly supported by local businesses and sporting clubs, community organisations, local government, and of course, by parents, carers and families.
RHS Family (is) constituted under the Department of Education and Training Parent Clubs Framework. Click here for the guidelines. It comprises parents and carers who are keen to contribute to the wellbeing of the school community.
The role of a parent club is threefold:
- To provide support, in various forms, for the school, its students and community, including raising funds for the benefit of the school
- To work in cooperation with the principal, staff and school council in building effective partnerships between home and school
- To encourage diversity by getting to know other parents at the school, and to support the operation of the school.
A parent club is not a sub-committee of the school council. Parent clubs have no legal powers, functions or formally prescribed powers or duties and must ensure they operate in accordance with the Regulations and have a Ministerially approved Constitution.
We achieve our aims by organising events that bring parents and the wider community into our school. Our initiatives are consistent with the school’s values, are fun, and often raise money for additional school resources.
RHS Family has a unique opportunity and responsibility to shape the school community according to our school values.
